Lunchtime escape

Monday was sunny, so at lunchtime I drove out to one of my favorite quiet places in the area.

One of the local dairies has a field where a few buffalo and a few longhorn cattle live.  The buffalo population has changed over the years, but right now they have three, one of which was last year’s calf.  The longhorns have increased from two to four.  Last year the buffalo calf and longhorn calf hung out together, and it was fun watching them run around.  I used to wonder about their “socialization,” and how much each would exhibit buffalo or longhorn behavior.

It was lovely sitting in the car, knitting, enjoying the sunshine, and watching the buffalo (the main reason I go there).   I listened to the wind in the nearby trees, and the bird song, and it was so quiet I could hear the sound as they ripped off the grass to eat.  It is good to slow down and connect with the basic things in life.     🙂
