One more chance to see “The Vagina Monologues” in Del Norte County — this year!

We scheduled three performances of “The Vagina Monologues” in Del Norte County.  The first one was on March 31st, at College of the Redwoods, Crescent City CA.  The day before two rivers almost flooded, and on the day of the performance we had such strong winds that redwood trees went down all over the place.  (See here.)  But 70 tickets sold out of 80, and 50 brave souls came to our first performance.  It was fun!    This is a photo of me knitting in the “ready room” before the performance.   Good way to relax and keep the jitters at bay.  🙂

Last Saturday night we did our second performance, in the Tolowa Event Center at the Lucky 7 Casino (Smith River CA).  This time we had 300 people watching us, and it was a lot of fun, too!  Our organizer, Benita, made a giant vagina out of cloth, and it was the centerpiece behind us on the stage.  (That’s me being coy with some of the netting.  🙂   )   There was laughter and tears, and a lot of people who enjoyed themselves more than they anticipated.  We had a Silent Auction and raised over $1,100 with that alone.  There were also t-shirts, vagina chocolates, and crocheted vagina pins for sale.

Our final performance (for this year) is on Saturday, April 14th, at 7 p.m.  (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) at the Elk Valley Rancheria Community Center.  This is a smaller venue, seating 200, and we expect to sell out.  You can get your tickets at Del Norte Office Supply in Crescent City — still only $10!    🙂

It has been an amazing experience to do these performances with this wonderful variety of women.   Thank you, Benita, for bringing us together!   I’m looking forward to “The Vagina Monologues” in 2013!   🙂
