Sometimes dream goals come true

Back in 1982 I read a book called Wishcraft, by Barbara Sher.  (The book is still in print, and you can find out more about it here.)  It led me through exercises to discover what I really want out of life, and even had practical advice on how to achieve it.   One of my dreams was to have friends and correspondence with people from all over the world.   (This was before Internet.  🙂  )

Thanks to the Internet and this blog, this dream has come true.  🙂   Some of my friends are email friends from discussion groups, and even carry-overs from that wonderful, “archaic” thing known as letters.   🙂    With this blog, if someone “Liked” an entry, I could see who they were and sometimes where they lived.  Recently WordPress expanded the data collected for our statistics page, and now we can see where a visitor lives (by country).   While I realize some visitors do it because they hope I will click back to their advertising pages, most are there because a search engine suggested my blog might have information they are looking for.   I am amazed and delighted at the range of people outside the U.S. who have visited.  During the past 30 days, there have been people from Japan, United Kingdom, Canada, Netherlands, Australia, Taiwan, Argentina, Ireland, the Philippines, Brazil, Chile, Hungary, the Russian Federation, Lithuania, Israel, Spain, Turkey, Kenya, Poland, India, Finland, Singapore, Peru, Paraguay, Bangladesh, Malta, Azerbaijan, Portugal, Lebanon, South Africa, Bulgaria, Malaysia, Iraq, Indonesia, and New Zealand.     Wow.   🙂     While I realize some may have gone to my blog and decided that wasn’t what they were looking for, there have been some who were interested enough to have it translated into another language.

I write this blog because there is information I want to share with other people.  Also, I enjoy reading about other people’s lives and viewpoints (people are fascinating!), and I imagine there might be someone who is interested in mine.  It makes me happy to realize that is potentially happening in 35 other countries.  🙂

    Judith,

You are so right about the world got smaller! In the day and age we both live in, opportunities are endless. I am reminded by an online coach I willingly joined saying a guy made millions by selling an article about “How To Have A Six Pack Abs.” Furthermore, the said coach made his millions doing the same and then some. 🙂 Maybe I should not be so stubborn enough to follow his lead. After all, as you aptly put, there are people around the world who might just be looking for your stuff.

As long as the “stuff” being offered is valuable and ethical – why not?
